According to the US Department of Labor, the average worker will change careers 7 times over their working life.  We're not talking about changing jobs. We're talking about going into a new career field that requires new skills.  So the process of figuring out "what you want to be when you grow up" is something you may be doing over and over again.

To begin, you will first want to figure out what type of job you might like to do. That means you should have a good understanding of your:

• Interests—What do you enjoy doing?
• Natural Talents —What things are you naturally good at?
• Values—What’s important to you?
• Personality—Are you detail-oriented? Do you like working with people? Personality traits can be part of your decision-making process too.

Once you’ve done this, then you can begin to check out your options and get into making some decisions and plans.
