February 18, 2011-Top Intel in Millburn

In late January 2011, Millburn High School senior Alison Bick was named a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search, an annual research contest in which students must write a 20-page scientific paper and enter their research into local, state and/or national competitions. Alison’s project was titled, “Fabrication and Evaluation of Cell Phone Based Water Testing Apparatus.” She will head to Washington, D.C. in March – along with 40 students from around the country (including two others from New Jersey) to display her work to the public, meet with scientists and compete for the top award of $100,000. Three of Alison’s classmates were semi-finalists in the competition, winning $1,000 each to support their careers in math, science and technology.
