A potential law to make New Jersey teens better drivers moved one step closer to reality in November 2011. The Transportation Committee unanimously approved the bill, which will in part require teens with learner permits to complete 50 hours of supervised practice driving. In addition, the permit phase would be extended to one year from the current six months. The bill now goes to the full Assembly for consideration.
