Let the consumer competitions begin! In March 2012, New Jersey high school students competed in the county-level competitions of the New Jersey High School Consumer Bowl, a contest for students around the state to help them learn the rules of consumer spending. Here’s a sample question: When a consumer leases an automobile, who is responsible for insuring the vehicle? Stumped? That would be the consumer—as in you. County winners, including a team from Ridgefield Park High in Bergen County, now advance to a regional competition on April 19 and then a championship match in Trenton on May 21.
