Erica Feliciano, 20, a junior at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), could identify this summer with the country's passion for viewing Mars, the Red Planet. She often gets that faraway look of someone transported by space travel. Her heavenly interests, however, are a bit more grounded. "I want to go into the space program, building space satellite probes. I want to work with NASA," explains Erica, a mechanical engineering major at TCNJ who graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 2001. Erica came into TCNJ with an interest in computer science, but switched to engineering because she wanted to be more hands-on. She admits it's arduous, requiring courses like physics and calculus III, but she's up for the challenge. Next summer Erica plans to apply for a few internships. In the meantime, she gets to travel across the country and gain experience in her field as president of TCNJ's Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
