New Adoption Records Law
  • Amended to the NJ Vital Statistics Act and signed into law
    May 27, 2014. 
  • Provides adoptees and/or designated indiividuals the
    opportunity to obtain a non-certified copy of their
    original birth certificate and other related documents.
  • Establishes safeguards to ensure privacy concerns of
    birth parents. 
  • Adoptees may receive a copy of their original birth
    certificate beginning January 2017.
