Four Dead in Salem County Crash

Pilesgrove, N.J. - Four persons are dead and three in critical condition after a tragic three-car accident in Pilesgrove, Salem County this morning. The accident occurred at 11:17 a.m. when an eastbound Chevy pickup truck driven by a 40 year old from Buena Twp. passed in a no passing zone on US 40 and struck two other vehicles, one head on. The pickup's driver is not being identified because next of kin has not yet been notified.

The first westbound vehicle struck was a Toyota pickup driven by Kelly Bonselaar, 22, of Elmer, N.J. Her truck was only sideswiped and she received minor injuries as she ran off the road.

The Chevy pickup then struck head-on a Chevy Impala in the westbound lane. There were six occupants of the Impala and we do not have relationships firmed up yet. They are:

Driver: Tatum Loatman, female, 27, Millville, N.J. Declared on scene
Front pass: Barbara Loatman, female, 69, same Millville address. Declared on scene
Rear seat: Hartly Loatman, male, 75, different Millville address. Declared on scene
Rear seat: Brook Loatman, female, 17, Glassboro. She was ejected. Critical condition
Rear seat: Emon Loatman, female, 14, same address as driver Critical condition
Rear seat: Harlon Loatman, female, 13, same Millville address Critical condition

The three critical passengers were each flown to Cooper Hospital by Southstar State Police helicopter and Jeffstat helicopter based out of Christiana Hospital. All had multiple injuries including internal injuries.

The rear seat passengers were not wearing seatbelts and their exact location prior to the crash has not been determined yet.

The accident's exact location was at milepost 14.1, just east of Glassboro Rd.

Tpr. Michael Murray of Woodstown State Police Station is investigating the crash with the help of the Fatal Accident Unit and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit. Tpr. Murray said the tragic accident was the worst he's ever seen and the worst he ever hopes to see.
