19-year-old Barnegat man arrested for
Kristina Greengrove hit and run

Eagleswood Township (West Creek), N.J. - State Police detectives in Tuckerton Station this morning arrested the man responsible for the hit and run death of 19-year-old Kristina Greengrove, which occurred on Sunday night. Troopers arrested Patrick Guinane, 19, at his home on Sextant Drive in Barnegat Township in connection with the fatal crash on northbound U.S. 9 (Main St.) in West Creek, Eagleswood Township, Ocean County.

Detectives had been blanketing the Ocean County area with flyers and interviewing numerous people. A concerned citizen called the station late last night stating that he had seen the flyer and knew a person who drove a vehicle matching the description, and that the vehicle had been in a recent accident. Troopers arrived in the early morning hours at Guinane's home and confirmed that the 2000 black Chevy Blazer with tinted windows had been in an accident consistent with the fatal pedestrian crash. They took him into custody without incident at 5:25 a.m.

Guinane's Blazer was impounded and sent to Buena State Police Station where Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) detectives will scour it for evidence. Greengrove's car was also taken there for forensic examination. She was standing next to her vehicle when she was struck.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Vehicular Homicide Unit is working closely with State Police detectives and will review the current charge (leaving the scene of an accident with a fatality- a third degree crime) to determine if additional charges are appropriate.

Guinane is being processed at Tuckerton Station and his bail has been set at $50,000 with no 10% option.

"Numerous troopers, including Detective Sergeant Lindsay Cooper and Det. Harry McDermott, have been working tirelessly since the time of the accident. Their relentless efforts have paid off with this arrest and helped bring some small consolation to the family and friends of this young woman," said Colonel Rick Fuentes, superintendent.

Guinane works as a mason in the ocean county area. His arrest photo is below.
