Certified Psychoanalysts Advisory Committee
Welcome to the Web site of the Certified Psychoanalysts Advisory Committee.
The Certified Psychoanalysts Advisory Committee, a committee that advises the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs, certifies individuals who are qualified to hold themselves out to the public as state-certified psychoanalysts. Psychoanalysis is a therapeutic service based on an understanding of the unconscious and how unconscious processes affect the human mind as a whole, including actions, thoughts, perceptions and emotions. Inquiries about the committee may be forwarded to J. Michael Walker, Executive Director, P.O. Box 45050, Newark, NJ 07101. The committee may also be reached by calling (973) 504-6479 or email.
Please Be Advised
Please be advised that a psychoanalyst who has a current certification from the State of New Jersey is entitled to call herself/himself a "New Jersey State Certified Psychoanalyst." However, a psychoanalyst is not required to have a New Jersey state certification in order to practice psychoanalysis in New Jersey.
Certification is not licensure. New Jersey State Certified Psychoanalysts should advise their clients to contact their own insurance provider(s) to determine what, if any, psychoanalytic services are covered.
