School Bullying
Guidance and Tutorial issued on the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination
To help the public understand how the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (LAD) help protect students from school bullying, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR) collaborated with the New Jersey Department of Education (DOE) to create a guidance document and an on-line tutorial. DCR will continue to enforce the Law Against Discrimination to address bias-based bullying, and DOE enforces the recently enacted Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act.
A tutorial addressing the role of DCR and the applicability of the Law Against Discrimination is attached, and Chapter 5 of the attached guidance document addresses DCR and the LAD (pages 61-66). Additional tutorials addressing the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act and the Department of Education’s role are available on the
Department of Education’s website
