Thomas J. Cafferty

Thomas J. Cafferty attended Rutgers University and graduated with a B.A. in 1969 and Rutgers School of Law in Newark with a J.D. in 1972. He is a partner in the firm of McGimpsey & Cafferty located in Somerset, New Jersey. Mr. Cafferty has been the General Counsel for the New Jersey Press Association for approximately 30 years. In addition, he has represented a number of newspapers throughout New Jersey. He was a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Defamation Working Group for the 1984 Judicial Conference, a member of the Supreme Court Media Relations Committee, and a member of the Martin Committee of the Supreme Court to review and advise the Supreme Court on a policy governing commercial filming in court facilities. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Communications Law for Rutgers School of Communications, Information, and Library Sciences located in New Brunswick.
