The Division of Elder Advocacy protects the elderly by intervening in or instituting proceedings involving their interests; litigating on their behalf, and negotiating, mediating or resolving disputes prior to or in lieu of litigation. The Division includes the Office of the Ombudsman for the Institutional Elderly and the Nursing Home Ombudsman, which protect the rights and dignity of residents in long-term care facilities.
