New Home Construction in New JerseyThe Commission in March 2005 issued the final report of a multi-year investigation into abuses in the new-home construction and inspection process. It capped an unprecedented, statewide inquiry that included five days of public hearings in 2003 and 2004 to air findings of flawed and deficient practices in the new-home construction and inspection process, including shoddy workmanship, lax and corrupt construction inspections, blatant code violations, poor government oversight and inadequate home-warranty and other remedial options for consumers.
