The New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology in collaboration with the Rutgers Stem Cell Research Center hosted the New Jersey Stem Cell Research Symposium on September 18-19, 2008 at the Bridgewater Marriott in Bridgewater, NJ.

The statewide symposium attracted over 300 scientists, providing an opportunity to network with other researchers, industry representatives and venture capitalists. The symposium included keynote speaker Kenneth S. Kosik. M.D. Harriman Professor of Neuroscience Research and Co-Director, Neuroscience Research Institute at University of California, Saint Barbara and Andreas Androutsellis-Theotokis, Ph.D. Staff Scientist at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke, National Institutes of Health.

More than 50 scientists and researchers from across NJ presented their work at the symposium. The conference showcased New Jersey’s life science assets, including a thriving pharmaceutical and biotech presence, world-class stem cell research facilities, vibrant stem cell research, and a dedicated funding source to support scientific and translational stem cell research.
