Serge Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18
Serge Rachmaninoff- Symphonic Dances, Op. 45

The year is 1940. The legendary pianist and composer Serge Rachmaninoff travels from his Locust, New Jersey home on the shore to play one of the most memorable recitals of his career at the Trenton War Memorial. This was a singular special appearance that left the audience in awe and is still remembered in the press and in local lore. Surely, he will be looking down upon us as we dedicate this concert to him as we present two of his most enduring works, Piano Concerto No. 2 and Symphonic Dances. On piano will be Clipper Erickson, who made his debut as a soloist with the Young Musicians Foundation Orchestra at age nineteen in Los Angeles. After studies at Juilliard, Yale, and Indiana University with the renowned British pianist John Ogdon, he won prizes at international competitions including the Busoni, William Kapell, and the American Pianists Association. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals in some of the most famous concert venues in the world, including the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
