A Letter from Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno

On September 14th, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) granted a State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) Award to the New Jersey Department of State’s Business Action Center (BAC).  The award is $606,151, and, for the second year in a row, is one of the top ten awards presented by the SBA.

The STEP program is a financial resource for qualifying New Jersey small businesses to start, build, or grow their export sales, as well as develop access to international markets previously out of reach. In particular, the BAC provides on a first come, first served competitive basis, financial awards to assist eligible small- and mid-sized businesses with specific export-related activities such as 1) Participation in qualifying foreign trade missions or trade shows, 2) Services provided by the U.S. Department of Commerce, and 3) Translation of websites or marketing materials. Further, to be considered for STEP support, the export-related activities must occur between the dates of September 30, 2017-September 29, 2018.

New Jersey businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to increase their global sales through the STEP program.  For more information or to apply for a STEP award, please visit http://njstep.nj.gov/ or call 1-800-Jersey-7.
