New Jersey Highlands Coalition
Wildlife of the Highlands Exhibition

The second annual Highlands Festival at Waterloo will include a juried exhibit featuring art of the New Jersey Highlands. Artists are invited to submit work for this weekend-long celebration at Waterloo Village on September 20 and 21, 2014. Art and photography should feature flora, fauna, landscapes, or resources of the New Jersey Highlands. Accepted work will also be featured on the Festival's website and social media sites.

Digital interactivity engages and immerses audiences in active learning experiences of depth and meaning. It encourages play, evokes emotional responses, reacts to user input, rewards participation, and bridges visual contents to physical environments. This show is in search of those who create works that exemplify these traits and transcend common technological convention and compliance.

Registration is open to outdoor artists for the High Bridge Paint Out; a one day event. Registered artists check-in at 9am and then paint subjects of history, nature and/or everyday life. At 3pm, the art created will be exhibited downtown and judged by jurors Stephanie Amato and Doreen Tighe. Artists are encouraged to sell their art via silent auction from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Guidelines and Application Available

The guidelines and online application are now available for the 2015 USArtists International program. The program provides support for American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists from across the country who have been invited to perform at significant international festivals and, new this year, performing arts markets anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories. The application deadline for the first of three grant rounds of the 2015 program is for projects taking place between November 1, 2014 and October 31, 2015.

The exhibition will consist of two- and three-dimensional work in all media. Awards will include a Solo Exhibition at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster.

Verismo Opera invites professional, amateur, and retired professional vocalists to audition for their chorus. Applicants should have a working ability to read music and experience singing. Choristers will perform in the company's fall production of Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème on Sundays, October 19 and 26, 2014. Both performances will be presented at 3 p.m. at the Bergen Performing Arts Center. An audition appointment is required and must be made in advance.

The Institute for Women and Art (IWA) is seeking women and transgender artists working with technology, gender, and feminism for an opportunity to participate in an online directory and film festival. The directory and film festival are part of Momentum: Women/Art/Technology, an exploration into the intersection of technology, art practice and feminism. The juried works will appear on the IWA website in a video playlist that will run continuously, giving access to viewers 24/7. This is an opportunity for filmmakers and other screen artists to present work in a gallery without walls.

BergenPAC is holding auditions for people 12 to 18 years old for its Musical Theater Orchestra run by musician/composer Glenn Gordon. The orchestra performs on the bergenPAC stage numerous times a year including winter and spring concerts, the Roberta Mathes Gala, and theater and dance showcases. Members will open for certain bergenPAC acts. The orchestra learns Broadway repertoire, accompanies beyondDANCE shows, and participates in outreach programs to schools and other venues.

Healing Through Arts: A Collaborative Exhibition

Healing Arts and Paul Robeson Galleries invite artists from the community and around the world to share their vision of the restorative effects of art. Artists may submit works on paper in any two-dimensional format, including but not limited to painting in acrylic or watercolor, collage, photography, etc. for this juried exhibition. Many artists have experienced art-making as a healing tool to help them navigate through life's physical and emotional difficulties and to improve their spirit and well-being. When submitting, artists are encouraged to consider the healing properties and benefits of art as related to their work. The exhibition will begin January 2015 and run through July 2015 at the Paul Robeson Galleries in Newark, NJ.

The Unlimited Potential Theater Co., a project of VSA New Jersey, is seeking poems, essays, short stories and plays for its 21st annual Joyce Indik New Jersey Wordsmith Competition. The contest is open to all New Jersey writers age 18 and over. Submissions by writers with disabilities are encouraged. Winning works will be showcased at the New Jersey Readers Theatre in the spring of 2015. In lieu of an entry fee, a donation of any amount is welcomed to cover the cost of the competition.

Applications for the Creative Glass Center of America (CGCA) Fellowship Program are now being accepted. Up to four traditional three-month fellowships will be awarded for the Spring of 2015. During the remainder of the year, CGCA will work to accommodate artists' needs with custom fellowships of various lengths and flexible schedules. In addition to the residency, artists are encouraged to submit proposals for six-week residencies, intermittent residencies, short-term project support and performance-based work.

Garden State Film Festival

Festival: March 19-22, 2015

The Garden State Film Festival is accepting entries from independent filmmakers for screening during next year's film festival to be held March 19-22, 2015 in Atlantic City. In 2014, the festival moved from Asbury Park to a new permanent home in Atlantic City, and featured almost 180 films from 17 countries, an open talent casting call, panel discussions, free screening for public school students and opening and closing ceremonies. A panel of professional judges will review the entries in a number of categories including the best feature length, short, documentary (short and feature length), animation (short and feature length), music video, PSA, commercial and trailers.
