Division of Programs
In addition to providing administrative support to the various Boards and Commissions that promote cultural awareness and community advocacy within the Department of State. The Division also assists the commissions with cultural events and commemorations which highlight the contributions and diversity of the citizens of New Jersey.
We facilitate meetings with key community stakeholders to encourage participation in community projects and volunteerism.
We also provide grants for the support of community based programs that facilitate social service, faith based outreach and capacity building to grass roots organizations that enrich the quality of life for our residents.

AmeriCorps programs will serve communities throughout New Jersey in the priority areas of education, disaster response, social services, and environmental stewardship.

Friday, June 21, 2013—Today in Was hington D.C., Governor Christie is delivering the keynote address at the 2013 Points of Light National Conference on Volunteering and Service. Founded in response to President George H.W. Bush's 1989 call for a "thousand points of light" with citizens volunteering to help their fellow citizens, the Points of Light Foundation is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that encourages the spirit of service. In the past, volunteers from Points of Light have assisted with relief efforts in the aftermath of September 11th, Hurricane Katrina, the deadly earthquake in Haiti and other tragic events.
