Gov. Recommends Warsh for NJ TRANSIT

NJ Gov. Christie Whitman today indicated that she will recommend Jeffrey A. Warsh, of Westfield, to be the next executive director of NJ TRANSIT, the statewide transit corporation.

"NJ TRANSIT has a number of important projects planned for the coming years and I believe that Jeff Warsh's strong vision and innovative thinking will be critical to completing those projects and providing new transportation options for the next millennium," Gov. Whitman.

As a part of her announcement, Gov. Whitman said she hopes that acting executive director Stanley J. Rosenblum will remain at the corporation as deputy executive director.

"Stan has done a fine job during the past six months, running the day-to-day operations of NJ TRANSIT - keeping the trains and busses running on time, ensuring that vital transportation projects remain on track, and helping to give the residents of New Jersey the first class transportation system they've come to expect."

NJ TRANSIT's Board of Directors will vote on the appointment at its next board meeting on July 14, 1999.

Warsh is currently senior vice president of the MWW Group in East Rutherford. He served as a member of the NJ Assembly Transportation Committee; helped to launch the Hudson-Bergen Light rail project, and has championed new investments in regional transportation infrastructure that include new rail starts.
