NJDOT
suspends construction for Thanksgiving weekend
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation
(NJDOT) Commissioner Jack Lettiere today announced that NJDOT
is
suspending all construction activities that impact traffic for
the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend.
"The
New Jersey Department of Transportation is suspending construction
to improve safety and mobility as we celebrate Thanksgiving,"
said Commissioner Lettiere.
NJDOT
at 6:00 am on Wednesday, November 23 will suspend all construction
work that affects travel lanes on state highways. NJDOT will continue
the suspension until noon on Monday, November 28. NJDOT
will permit lane closures for emergency reasons only.
NJDOT also will operate expanded Emergency Service Patrols (ESP)
to assist motorists with disabled vehicles throughout New Jersey.
In
addition, NJDOT will staff its Traffic Operations Centers through
the holiday weekend. Motorists can view real-time
traffic updates on NJDOT's commuter information website https://www.state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/

NJDOT
expects heavy traffic on interstate highways on Wednesday, Thursday
and Sunday. NJDOT on Friday and Saturday expects heavy traffic
on state roads such as Routes 4 and 17 in Bergen County, Routes
1 and 295 in Mercer County and Route 38 in Camden County and Route
42 in Gloucester County.

to report aggressive drivers; #95 to report disabled vehicles
and accidents on the New Jersey Turnpike; #GSP to report disabled
vehicles on the Garden State Parkway; and #ACE to report disabled
vehicles on the Atlantic City Expressway.
