NJDOT announces detour on Route 202 in Morris County

(Trenton)- The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the upcoming closure of Route 202 northbound for a $2 million project to replace six retaining walls with new retaining walls and remove one retaining wall with a regraded slope on southbound Route 202 from Jenks Road to Old Harter Road in Morris Township, Morris County.

Starting on Monday March 10, Route 202 northbound will be detoured Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Route 202 southbound traffic will use the northbound lane. The Route 202 northbound traffic will be detoured right onto Glen Alpine Road, left onto Blue Mill Road, left onto James Street, left onto Harter Road, and then turn right onto Route 202.

During this stage, four new walls will be constructed. The maximum anticipated duration for the detour is four months. The remaining two walls will be constructed using daily alternating traffic lane closures along Route 202.

NJDOT has installed Variable Message Signs (VMS) on Route 202 and motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website, www.njcommuter.com for project updates.
