NJDOT to rehabilitate
Main Street Bridge over Route 206 in Mansfield

(Trenton) – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the start of a $1.3 million bridge deck replacement project on Main Street (CR-543) over Route 206 in Mansfield, Burlington County.

“This American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) project will provide much needed infrastructure improvements to the local roadway system in Mansfield while helping to support the economy and create jobs for New Jersey’s working families,” said Commissioner Stephen Dilts.

The week of November 9, NJDOT will begin temporary nighttime lane closures on Route 206 in both directions in order to install a new curb ramp at the corner of Main Street and Railroad Avenue, as well as install construction shielding and equipment under the bridge. For the contractor to establish the work zone on the northern half of the roadway, Main Street will be shifted to the south during the week of November 23. NJDOT will maintain one lane in each direction on Main Street during construction. The sidewalk on the southern side of the bridge will also be maintained.

NJDOT will reconstruct the Main Street bridge deck over Route 206 in Mansfield in stages. Upon completion of the northern half of the bridge, Main Street traffic will be shifted onto the newly reconstructed portion of the bridge, and work will begin on the southern half of the bridge. NJDOT will maintain one lane of traffic in each direction on Main Street throughout construction. Construction is scheduled for completion in September 2010.
