NJDOT closing Seashore Road overnight this week
in Lower Township
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that sections of Seashore Road are being closed overnight in Lower Township this week.
In order to construct a new drainage system and perform other safety improvements along the local roadway, NJDOT plans to close Seashore Road overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, for four consecutive nights this week. The first closure took place last night.
On Tuesday, June 28, Seashore Road will be closed between Breakwater Road (CR 613) and Cresse Lane (Sally Marshal Crossing).
On Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30, Seashore Road will be closed between Breakwater Road (CR 613) and Tabernacle Road.
• Through-traffic will be detoured to Route 9, which runs parallel to Seashore Road, during the overnight closures. Access to residences along Seashore Road will be maintained and full access to the roadway will be restored every morning.
The impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal.
The closures are necessary as part of an ongoing $6.4 million congestion relief and safety improvement project addressing Route 9 and various local roadways in Lower Township. NJDOT’s contractor, South State Inc., began construction in February and completion of the project is scheduled for July 2012.
The precise timing of the work mentioned in this advisory is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
