Regional resurfacing contract to address sections of distressed highways in Bergen and Union counties
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced a regional maintenance resurfacing and roadway repair project is scheduled to begin this week.
NJDOT will mill and repave deteriorated sections of asphalt and concrete roadway at four locations in Bergen and Union counties:
• Routes 1&9/46 in both directions between Abbott Avenue (milepost 63.1) in Palisades Park and the Route 4/I-95 interchange in Fort Lee (milepost 64.7) in Bergen County
• Route 46 in both directions from just east of the Passaic River in Elmwood Park (milepost 64) to Hamilton Avenue in Lodi (milepost 66.2) in Bergen County.
• Route 28 in both directions between CR 606/Hetfield Avenue in Fanwood (milepost 18.4) and the CR 509 Westfield roundabout in Westfield (milepost 19.8) in Westfield, Union County.
The $7.8 million project will improve motorist safety and extend the pavement lifespan along the full width of the roadway at each location, including all travel lanes, turn lanes, shoulders and median openings.
NJDOT’s maintenance contractor, Tilcon Inc., will utilize multiple work crews to advance the project at multiple locations simultaneously. The work will be performed under the allowable lane closures schedule, maintaining at least one travel lane in at each location at all times. Access to all businesses will be maintained.
