Route 46 eastbound to be closed and detoured beginning tonight for Bridge over Piaget Avenue project in Clifton

Lane and ramp closures needed on Route 46 westbound and Piaget Avenue

(Trenton) -New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced Route 46 eastbound will be closed and detoured this weekend as the Bridge over Piaget Avenue replacement project progresses in Clifton, Passaic County. Route 46 westbound also will have single lane closures overnight and the ramps to and from Piaget Avenue to Route 46 will be closed and detoured beginning tonight.

The $5.1 million federally-funded bridge project is using Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques allowing the construction to be completed over two weekends to minimize disruption to the traveling public.

The multiple lane and ramp closures this weekend are necessary so NJDOT’s contractor, Anselmi & DeCicco, Inc., can demolish and reconstruct the bridge and approach slab on the eastbound side of Route 46 over Piaget Avenue. In July, the westbound side of the bridge will be demolished and reconstructed over a single weekend. NJDOT will provide information in advance of that work taking place. The following closures and detours will be in place this weekend.
