Compliance

The New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) Americans with Disabilities Act ADA/504 Transition Plan (pdf 5,88k) was developed to fulfill the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The Act requires NJDOT conduct a self-evaluation of its programs, policies and procedures offered to the public to ensure accessibility to persons with disabilities.

The plan reflects the results of a comprehensive review and survey of pedestrian facilities programs and practices that are under the jurisdiction of NJDOT. The Transition Plan assesses the needs of persons with disabilities and then identifies and prioritizes actions needed and schedules the required pedestrian accessibility upgrades. The Transition Plan is to be updated periodically to develop the Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) and Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) programs.
