Ride Quality Requirements
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is implementing a ride quality specification that uses profile data collected with inertial
profilers for acceptance testing of the final riding surface. The ride specification is applicable for either hot mix asphalt or Portland cement
concrete (PCC) pavements and uses the international roughness index (IRI) computed from profile measurements to quantify the level of ride
quality achieved from construction.
