Contract 1
Encasement removal
for the eastern spans
of the Pulaski Skyway

Concrete
encasement removal, cleaning
and painting of the newly
exposed steel from the south
side of the Tonnele Circle
to Newark Avenue is underway.
This work is being done to
determine the condition of
the steel.
Contract 2
Rehabilitation
of the Route 139 Hoboken
and Conrail Viaducts |
Hoboken Viaduct
Work
includes the construction of a temporary
roadway to serve as a detour
for traffic, installation of
Intelligent Transportation
Systems (ITS) cameras, new
lighting and traffic signals.
To correct the structural deficiencies,
the following work will be
done:
- Replace floor beams, bearings
and columns
- Replace stringers and deck (prefabricated
panels and Latex Modified
Concrete (LMC) overlay
- Temporarily support cross street
utilities where possible
and replace floorbeams
to minimize utility relocations
- Realign upper roadway east end
between Baldwin Avenue
and Palisade Avenue to
align with south ramp
- Replace balustrades
with Jersey barrier with
blind arcade architectural
treatment on fascia
- Repair crack and spall
of lower roadway
Conrail Viaduct
The following
work will be done: Deck replacement
with high-early concrete and rapid
setting LMC overlay
- Replace bearing
- Remove concrete encasement
from truss members, clean
and paint
- Repair truss and replace
rivets
- Replace truss bracing
- Increase stringer load
capacity by adding shear
connectors
- Place east spans on concrete
fill
Contracts 3 and 4
Deck replacement - northbound and southbound |
The deck will be replaced for
the entire length of the
Pulaski Skyway. |
