SECOND WAVE OF FAIR REBATE CHECKS TO BE MAILED
- Acting Governor Richard J. Codey and Treasurer John E. McCormac announced
that the Division of Taxation will mail approximately 1.1 million FAIR
rebate checks for 2004 to New Jersey homeowners today.
“We worked hard, in a difficult budget year, to provide FAIR rebate checks to help New Jersey’s middle-income families,” said Codey. “These checks will provide welcome relief from the property tax burden to more than one million households.”
The first wave of FAIR rebate checks for eligible senior and disabled homeowners, as well as all eligible tenants, was mailed in early August. With this mailing, approximately 2.26 million households will have received FAIR rebate checks this year, representing more than $1 billion in FY 2006 State Budget spending for direct property tax relief under the FAIR (Fair and Immediate Release) Act.
Eligible non-senior, non-disabled homeowners who filed their applications by August 15 can expect to receive their 2004 FAIR rebate checks this week. Those who requested direct deposit will have their rebates deposited directly into their bank accounts. Applicants with incomes of $125,000 or less will receive rebates of $350 while those with incomes between $125,000 and $200,000 will receive rebates of $300. Rebates for applications filed between August 16 and the extended filing deadline of October 17, 2005, will be issued as quickly as possible, but may not be included in this distribution.
