New Jersey State Employees Commuter Tax Savings Program


The New Jersey State Employees Commuter Tax Savings Program (Commuter Tax$ave) is a benefit program available under Section 132(f) of the federal Internal Revenue Code which allows eligible employees to set aside before-tax dollars to pay for mass transit and commuter parking expenses, thereby avoiding federal taxes and saving money. The benefit program is administered for the State of New Jersey by TransitChek, a division of WageWorks, Inc.

Benefit Changes for 2016

As a result of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016,

  • The pre-tax transit benefit cap has increased from $130 to $255 per month.

  • The pre-tax commuter parking benefit cap has increased from $250 to $255 per month.

Commuter Tax$ave members can check or adjust their benefits with the TransitChek Mobile App. Log in to the TransitChek Premium Mobile portal at https://m.transitchek.com/
