On the right-hand side of each page, there is an “Access my MBOS Account” area* where you can either “Login” or “Register.” The “Login” button will take you to the MyNewJersey Login Page, where you will enter your username and password. You will then be able to click the “MBOS and EPIC button” to access your MBOS account. First-time users can register for MBOS using the “Register” button.
*Note: on tablet and smartphone devices, the MBOS button may appear at the bottom of the page.
There are two ways for a member or employer to search our website.
For general information about loans and to see the quarterly posting dates, visit our Loans page. Start by going to “Pensions Information – Active Employees.” Then find your fund and go to “Pension Loans” from there.
The procedure to apply for a loan has not changed. You must log on to MBOS (see above) and submit your loan application online.
If you are within two years of retirement, log on to MBOS for an estimate using your personal account information. Retirement estimates on MBOS use the service and salary information currently posted to your account.
Use the Long-term Estimate Calculators if you are more than two years from retirement. These calculators are found in the Retirement Guide. Click the “Thinking about Retirement?” image in our slide show, or go to Pensions information for Active Employees, find your fund, and go to “Retirement” from there. Once at the Retirement Guide, select “Get a Retirement Estimate.”
From the blue navigation bar at the top of the page, use the drop down for “Publications” which includes Financial Reports, Fact Sheets, Forms, and Guidebooks. Our “Forms” page separates forms by Pension and Health Benefits for Active Employees, Retirees, and Employers, and a Claims section for all members. Our “Guidebooks” page contains both Pension and Health Benefits guidebooks for all pension funds and health benefit plans.
Fact sheets are now referenced by name and are separated by category. They can be found using the “Publications” drop down in the blue navigation bar at the top of the page. Some fact sheets were renamed to make them easier to find (for example: “Enrolling in the State Health Benefits Program when you Retire” is now “Health Benefits Coverage – Enrolling as a Retiree”). Some fact sheets have been combined or removed when the same information can be found in our member Guidebooks or the Employer Pension and Benefits Administration Manuals (EPBAM).
Street names and routing can change over time. Therefore, we provide our physical address for use with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) or to search using an online mapping system such as Google Maps or Map Quest. This way you will get the most up-to-date directions to the Division of Pensions & Benefits.
Because the policies described in these letters can change over time, only the last three years’ worth of Certifying Officer letters are available on the website. You may contact the NJDPB via telephone or e-mail to request a copy of an archived Certifying Officer letter that is more than three years old.
Many of our pages have changed, been combined, or removed so old bookmarks may not work. If you like to use bookmarks or favorites for the pages you visit most, please create new ones from our redesigned website. Also, since many of our web pages are new, it will take some time for Internet search engines such as Google and Bing to get updated. We recommend that you do not use a search engine at this time, but rather explore our website to find the information you are seeking.
From the blue navigation bar at the top of the page, click “Services” and then "Counseling Appointments." Counselors are available from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (with the last interviews taken at 3:30), Monday - Friday, except State holidays.
