NJWELL: Special Preview Screening Event for
School Employees Health Benefits Program (SEHBP) Members!

Starting January 1, 2014, NJWELL, a new incentive wellness program will be offered to actively employed members of the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and the School Employees Health Benefits Program (SEHBP), as well as their covered spouses or partners.

NJWELL is administered by the SHBP and SEHBP’s two insurance carriers, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and Aetna. NJWELL participants will receive 100 points for completing a Biometric Screening, and 150 points for completing an online Health Assessment questionnaire in 2014. Members of the SEHBP and their covered spouses or partners who successfully earn 250 points by completing these simple activities before October 31, 2014 will each receive a $100 Visa gift card. For more information on NJWELL, visit our Frequently Asked Questions here.

As a special preview of NJWELL, free biometric screenings will be provided by Summit Health to SEHBP members enrolled in a Horizon or Aetna plan at the 2013 New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Convention on November 7th and 8th. Appointments are available between 9:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on November 7th, and 8:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. on November 8th. This special event is the only opportunity to earn points towards your $100 Visa gift card before NJWELL officially starts in 2014. This free screening will provide you with a head start towards earning your Visa gift card as well as valuable health information including measures of:

  • Cholesterol (Total Cholesterol, HDL and Total Cholesterol / HDL Ratio)
  • Blood sugar (Glucose)
  • Blood pressure and pulse
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)

No fasting is required for the screenings. The cholesterol and diabetes screenings are conducted with a single finger-stick, which draws a small amount of blood. Your BMI will be calculated based on your self-reported height and weight.

Important note:  We take confidentiality very seriously. No information will be shared. The results will be given directly to you after the screening and then erased on the medical equipment.

This special preview event is cosponsored by the SEHBP and the NJEA. Get your Biometric Screening at the Convention, and all you’ll only have to complete the Health Assessment questionnaire on your SEHBP insurance carrier’s online portal between January 1 and October 31, 2014 to receive your $100 Visa gift card (note: gift cards will be issued beginning in February, 2014).

Please note: You MUST be enrolled in a Horizon or Aetna health plan through the School Employees Health Benefits Program to schedule a screening. Any person who is not enrolled in a School Employees Health Benefits Program health plan will have their appointment cancelled.

You will need to provide photo identification and a copy of your Horizon or Aetna health plan ID card at the event.
