GENERAL SERVICE OPTIONS FOR COMMERCIAL RECORDING

The table below lists the basic services and service levels that are provided for basic commercial recording and tax/employer registry transactions. Also provided are links to additional information on available service levels, fees, and information requirements for regular mail and over the counter work requests.

In addition to regular processing for commercial recording transactions, clients may choose expedited service (8.5 business hour processing), which is available for over-the-counter deliveries. When submitting an expedited, over-the-counter work request, please do not use USPS Overnight. This service does not deliver directly to the Division.

All commercial recording FAX filings and telephone status reports are considered expedited service. There is an extra per transaction fee of $15.00 for expedited requests. This is a surcharge added to the base fee charged for regular work requests. Same-day processing is available for FAX filings for an additional $50.00 fee.

Inexpensive Longest turnaround -- DOR processing averages between 3 and 10 work days; mail processing may further delay turnaround, on average between 3 - 10 work days.
Least complex (fewer considerations to handle in terms of delivery logistics and packaging the filing submission) No tracking of item to/from the Division's facilities.

Quick turnaround -- 8.5 business hour processing at DOR barring technical problems or issues beyond the control of DOR Most expensive (expediting fee involved plus payment of fees to courier/commercial carrier; may also involve travel time if personal deliveries/pickup's made)

Item tracking to/from DOR facilities available from courier/commercial carrier services
Important Notice: In order to receive processed work back from DOR via a courier/commercial carrier, the customer must include a completed air-bill with each work order showing the customer as both the sender and bill-to-party.

Information to Include In a Cover Letter for a Regular Mail or Over the Counter Work Request:

Include a covering letter or request sheet listing the following information:

  • Name of firm or individual requesting the service request
  • Payment (Service fees)
    1. Check (make payable to Treasurer, State of New Jersey)
    2. Credit card number with cardholder name and address and expiration date
    3. Depository Account (list account number)
  • Description of service requested -- e.g., “File Certificate UCC Financing Statement,” “File Certificate of Formation,” “Request for Business Entity Copy Work,” etc.
  • If delivering over the counter, the service level desired -- Expedited or Same Day
  • The business name or debtor associated with the filing (proposed name for a new business entity, name of existing business in the case of a business entity amendment filing request or name of debtor in the case of an amendment to an existing UCC filing)
  • If filing a business entity amendment or UCC amendment, the ID associated with the entity or filing (to find ID for existing business entities and UCC filings Click Here)
  • Return instructions:
    1. Via regular mail – provide a valid street address
    2. Via express or courier – include a completed air bill showing the customer as the sender and bill-to party
