This branch is responsible for the critical role of encouraging voluntary compliance by providing taxpayers with information and assistance they need to meet their New Jersey tax responsibilities. The Customer Service Branch also provides assistance to New Jersey residents to determine if they are eligible for the various New Jersey property tax relief programs, assistance in applying for rebates and in obtaining property tax rebate checks.
The Customer Service Center is a state-of-the-art telephone facility that can handle up to 10,000 calls a day. Representatives in the Customer Service Center answer approximately a million calls annually. The Customer Service Center also staffs the Tax Practitioner Hotline, a special service for tax practitioners who need assistance in resolving client problems that they have been unable to resolve through normal channels.
The REACH Center develops curriculum and conducts internal technical training for Division of Taxation employees.
