The Division will begin releasing 2017 refunds on March 1.
Both options are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These automated systems can tell you if and when we will issue your refund. They cannot give you any information on amended returns.
Taxpayer refunds will be issued beginning March 1. Because refund fraud resulting from identify theft has increased, we are using additional tools to protect New Jersey taxpayers. These enhanced efforts could result in early filers experiencing a slight delay in receiving their refunds. These anti-fraud protections need to be revised every year because perpetrators are becoming more adept at refund fraud. Processing returns and distributing refunds safely and efficiently is a key goal for the Division. The timing of a refund depends on when and how a return is filed. We appreciate your patience.
You can search online to see if your refund check was returned to the Division of Taxation because of an invalid mailing address. If you find that your check was returned, you can submit a claim form online to have it reissued.
For additional help, call our Customer Service Center at 609-292-6400 during normal business hours to speak to a representative. Division personnel will not be able to verify receipt of your return until processing has begun, and the return appears in our computer system. Paper returns are not logged in as they are received. The best time to contact the Call Center is after the estimated processing time for your return has passed.
