JOB SUMMARY:

A Technology Device Technician, when directed by a manager in the Integrated Technology Services (“ITS”) Department, will install, maintain, and repair, along with other members of the ITS Department as needed by management a wide variety of technology devices and cabling related to the computing, electrical, sensory, communication, signage, imagery, mechanical, tolling, and audio-visual, etc., infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Will install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of technology devices and cabling. Cabling means both pulling copper cabling and fiber for a wide variety of technology devices terminating copper and fiber at end unit devices such as cameras, variable message signs, and lane controllers.
  2. Will perform all work in accordance with current industry standards, as well as NJTA policies and procedures.
  3. Must be able to maintain and utilize, in a safe and efficient manner, common and specialized hand and power tools associated with the position.
  4. Perform physical activities involving the use of upper and lower body extremities; will be required to work in confined environments; perform their responsibilities in all types of weather conditions; maintain, operate and move equipment and power sources up to 75 lbs.; work alongside traffic in a lane or shoulder closure; work from enclosures, ladders, rooftops, communications structures, and elevation devices such as bucket trucks and scissor lifts, that up to 100 ft. above the terrain and/or roadway.
  5. Maintain service records, project reports, and work orders as directed.
  6. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  7. To perform other related duties as delegated.
  8. Employees shall obtain a Class A CDL within six (6) months of occupying the job title.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, & KNOWLEDGE:

Either high school diploma or GED and at least two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair and cabling of a wide variety of technology devices required. Also required is either Technical/Vocational school graduate or Military Occupational Specialty in electronics. Four (4) or more years of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair and cabling of wide variety of technology devices will be accepted in lieu of Technical/Vocational school or Military Occupational Specialty in electronics. Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license and Class A CDL.

Engineering - Project Engineer Construction

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Under the general direction of the Supervising Engineer, or, a designated Senior Project Engineer, supervises or assists in supervising the various engineering and administrative activities of the Engineering Department's Construction Division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. Registration as Professional Engineer in New Jersey is preferred.
  3. Seven (7) or more years of professional engineering experience preferably containing a mix of highway, structures, buildings, drainage, site, utilities and pavement design: contract document preparation, and construction supervision relating to various types of civil engineering projects, including at lease four (4) or more years in responsible charge.
  4. Excellent verbal arid written communications skills.
  5. Possesses a valid Driver's License.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In concert with the Supervising Engineer, or, a designated Senior Project Engineer, develops strategies for accomplishing the Construction Division's project objectives. All classifications of constructiori supervision work performed by the Authority's Engineering Department may be included in the projects assigned to the Construction Division, with the emphasis on construction supervision of Highways, Bridges arid Buildings facilities.
  2. Functions as the Project Engineer for several projects which are underway concurrently.
  3. Works in accordance with standards/policies set forth in the Authority's Manual for Construction, Standard Specifications, Standard Drawings, Design Manual and Design Standard Drawings.
  4. Directs and manages the efforts of consulting engineers and subordinate members of the Construction Pivision associated with construction supervision.
  5. Prepares budgets, estimates, plans, specifications, agenda. information, agreements, and other administrative matters, as may be required to provide total project management of Construction Division projects.
  6. Prepares requests for Expressions of Interest, Technical and Fee Proposals, reviews Proposals and recommends selection of consulting engineers.
  7. Represents the Supervising Engineer or, a designated Senior Project Engineer in their absence and performs related duties ..

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RELATIONSHIPS:

Maintains a cooperative working relationship with consulting engineers, outside agencies, superiors and others in the Engineering Department and throughout the Turnpike organization, Displays a flexible and adaptable attitude. Demonstrates leadership, initiative, good work ethics and team spirit, thuS, contributes positively to the Engineering Department's overall performance.

Engineering - Project Engineer Construction

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Oversight of roadway/bridge and facility construction projects involving management of outside consultants performing supervision and inspection activities for the Authority or actual on-site inspection and associated administrative functions, and assisting senior staff with project responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

  • Applicants must be capable of working independently, possess strong management, organizational and written/verbal communication skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office and have a valid driver's license.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7 years experience as a Resident Engineer.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Architect in the State of New Jersey, although not required, is desirable.
  • BS in Civil Engineering or BA in Architecture with 7 years experience in managing construction projects.

    • Starting Salary: $12 per hour
    • Locations: Multiple (but will attempt to place close to home)
    • Schedule: 20 hours per work week (MUST be available for rotating shifts and locations)

Internships

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority offers law students the opportunity to serve as volunteer/unpaid interns in the Law Department during fall or spring semesters or during summer. The Law Department regularly addresses an array of legal issues involving public procurement; administrative law; real estate, contract and environmental law; and litigation. If accepted into the program, students will perform law clerk responsibilities, including legal research and writing, and will have the opportunity to observe a range of lawyering activity. Students participating in the program may also have the opportunity to attend court proceedings, meetings, depositions, and other special events.
