RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform monthly UST facility inspections at all Authority Maintenance Districts, State Police and applicable Toll facilities.
  • Compile and review weekly UST inspection sheets as submitted by each facility.
  • Maintain all applicable UST permits, insurance, etc. at each location.
  • Attend NJDEP inspections related to UST infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development and management of project budgets.
  • Maintain Asbestos Management Plans.
  • Oversee consultants and/or contractors performing work for the Authority including annual UST testing, asbestos abatement, UST repairs, etc.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records as required, and ensure all records are organized and processed efficiently.
  • Remain up to date with regulatory training and knowledge of applicable environmental regulations.
  • This position will have field and non-field related responsibilities. Position requires a minimum of 50 percent field work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three to five years related experience in the operation and maintenance of underground storage tank systems (USTs).
  • Recommended, although not required, working knowledge of asbestos management, asbestos identification, sampling and abatement. Asbestos inspector's license a plus.
  • Possesses good written and verbal communication skills.
  • eBasic knowledge of personal computer and various desktop applications including MS Word and Excel.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Engineering - Project Engineer Construction

  • Perform cable installation and termination, as well as de-installation of all communication cables.
  • Must be able to perform first, second and third levels of system maintenance repair, i.e., overall system malfunction diagnostics, sub-assembly or module malfunction diagnostics and basic component or circuit device failure detection diagnostics.
  • Physical installation and/or reinstallation of all electrical units or devices peripheral equipment installation, etc.; all of which require related interconnection, adjustments, and testing to be performed.

Internships

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority offers law students the opportunity to serve as volunteer/unpaid interns in the Law Department during fall or spring semesters or during summer. The Law Department regularly addresses an array of legal issues involving public procurement; administrative law; real estate, contract and environmental law; and litigation. If accepted into the program, students will perform law clerk responsibilities, including legal research and writing, and will have the opportunity to observe a range of lawyering activity. Students participating in the program may also have the opportunity to attend court proceedings, meetings, depositions, and other special events.
