POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Engineer- Construction works under the direction of the Senior Supervising Engineer or designee. He/she provides support and assistance as needed to manage the various engineering and administrative activities in the Engineering Department's Construction Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in developing scope of work and request for proposal documents for construction assignments.
  2. Reviews and coordinates contract document review comments during the design phase. Assembles necessary information such as plans, specifications, utility orders, crossing permits, agreements, etc., as required for the execution and administration of construction contracts.
  3. Reviews and recommends for approval or disapproval, pay estimates, change orders, change of plans, drawings, etc. Maintains accurate records pertaining to project costs and schedules.
  4. Assists with supervising field engineering work undertaken by Resident Engineers, inspection staff and survey crews as directed. Reviews material testing and other reports submitted by outside agencies.
  5. Provides liaison activities between Turnpike departments, consultants, contractors, outside agencies and third parties as required to progress construction projects and address issues that arise in the field.
  6. Works under the direction of the Senior Supervising Engineer or his designee to carry out other related work required of construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RELATIONSHIPS:

Maintains a cooperative working relationship with superiors and others in the Engineering Department, throughout the Authority's organization and with consulting engineers, contractors, and outside agencies. POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Under the general direction of the Senior Supervising Engineer, manages engineering projects to completion, serving as liaison between the Authority and consultants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Works under the general direction of the ITS Manager, facilities Services to ensure and oversee an equipment testing and repair program, as well as asset and inventory control functions within the Authority's Information Technology Services (ITS) Department. Works alongside other technologists to repair all types of equipment with a primary focus on failure identification, repair, and disposal. Maintains, monitors, and/or controls the ITS equipment portfolio including inventory stock items. spare parts, project material, upgrades, and equipment removed from service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and maintain an equipment test program for the purpose of re-testing equipment that was replaced in the field for corrective maintenance. This program should include environmental stress testing and a process for repairing these items in a test lab environment.
  2. Work with technical staff to repair and certify a process for the equipment replacement in the field which cannot be sent to a vendor for repair.
  3. Work with technical staff on the fabrication and testing of electronic assemblies and sub-assemblies to be used in field upgrades and repairs.
  4. Create and manage electronic work orders in an Enterprise Asset Management system, as well as, maintain and respond to alerts from a Maintenance Online Management Systems (MOMS).
  5. Establish and maintain a parts distribution tracking process for systematic and controlled allocation of spare parts to technicians and satellite storage locations.
  6. Manage spare inventory levels and execute delivery schedules to ensure sufficient spare inventory is maintained for all areas.
  7. Develop and execute a Return Material Authorization (RMA) and warranty repair program with vendors.
  8. Works closely with the Authority's Procurement and Materials Management team to ensure adequate levels of lnventory within the Authority's Enterprise Resource Planning System, as well as manage part replenishment contracts with vendors. where applicable.
  9. Obtain price estimates for budgetary purposes.
  10. Determine required spare inventory levels (MINimum, Expected, MAXimum) through failure history reports and other metrics.
  11. Develop and maintain a warehouse storage system to efficiently stock all ITS equipment items. Locations include the primary facility, as well as remote satellite storage locations.

Works under the general direction, of the Manager of Communications Services or designee, to perform Information Security related duties in the areas of cyber security, Information security policy, monitoring and compliance/audit, penetration testing, application vulnerability assessments and risk assessments, security education, and training.   1. Performs and manages the Implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls. Ensures the integrity and protection of networks, systems, and applications by technical enforcement of organizational security policies, through monitoring of vulnerability scanning devices, research, malicious code reverse engineering, penetration testing, and threat intelligence.
  2. Assists in performance and coordination of Security Incident Response activities.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Works under the general direction of the ITS Facilities Manager to ensure and oversee the functionality, stability, installation, security, support, maintenance, and expandability of a wide variety of technology devices and cabling related to the computing, electrical, sensory, communication, signage, imagery, mechanical, tolling, and audio-visual, etc., infrastructure on the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the maintenance and repair of the Toll Collection System, Roadway Electronic Signage, and physical computing infrastructure.
  2. Provide project oversight, when required, for construction activities directly affecting the installation of technology equipment on the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike roadways. This includes installation of embedded devices, structures, signage, and canopy/gantry mounted devices. Ensure that all installation activities meet the Authority's Standard Specifications.
  3. Provide OJT style technical training and development of training material (i.e. manuals, test setups, diagnostic tools) for Authority staff in the operation and maintenance specified equipment and related software applications. Manage the configuration and set up of ITS equipment system test fixtures.
  4. Supervise and assist with system failure identification and corrective maintenance activities on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.
  5. Develop a preventive maintenance program to improve system performance and to reduce equipment downtime. Evaluate and modify preventive and corrective maintenance measures as necessary to efficiently maintain equipment.
  6. Design performance metrics to track and improve the efficiency of equipment runtime and repair activities. These metrics should include equipment availability, response and repair times, equipment failure summaries, failure trends, and adherence to system performance specifications. Develop a corrective action plan to improve any metrics that do not meet Authority standards.
  7. Provide technical support(remote and on-site) and product life-cycle management for the section portfolio.
  8. Perform failure analysis of equipment and systems with the goal of detecting failure trends and reliability statistics.
  9. Develop and maintain an equipment test program for the purpose of re-testing equipment that was replaced in the field for corrective maintenance. This program should include environmental stress testing and a process for repairing these items in a test lab environment.
  10. Complete Initial baseline analysis and provide status reports for special projects.
  11. Perform physical activities involving the use of upper and lower body extremities; will be required to work in confined environments; perform their responsibilities in all types of weather conditions; maintain, operate and move equipment and power sources up to 75 lbs; work alongside traffic in a lane or shoulder closure; work from enclosures, ladders, rooftops, communication structures, and elevation devices such as bucket trucks and scissor lifts, that are up to 100 ft. above the terrain and/or roadway.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR RELATIONSHIPS:

Has responsibility for maintaining harmonious working relationships with this and other departments and individuals in the Agency’s organization necessary for obtaining the objectives of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree or technical certification in electrical/computer hardware discipline from an accredited technical training institute. Credit given for equivalent experience.
  2. Five (5) years of professional experience in the design, maintenance, and construction of Intelligent Transportation Systems; including at least two (2) years in communication system projects.
  3. Five (5) years of hands on experience in electrical theory and a working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  4. Ten (10) years of experience in troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electronic hardware as required supporting a computer electronic project. At least five (5) years of this experience should be with Electronic Toll Collection equipment systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.

Internships

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority offers law students the opportunity to serve as volunteer/unpaid interns in the Law Department during fall or spring semesters or during summer. The Law Department regularly addresses an array of legal issues involving public procurement; administrative law; real estate, contract and environmental law; and litigation. If accepted into the program, students will perform law clerk responsibilities, including legal research and writing, and will have the opportunity to observe a range of lawyering activity. Students participating in the program may also have the opportunity to attend court proceedings, meetings, depositions, and other special events.
