Notice of Public Hearing
GARDEN STATE PARKWAY
INTERCHANGES 41 and 44 IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
TOWNSHIP OF GALLOWAY, ATLANTIC COUNTY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority will hold a public hearing in compliance with Executive Order 172 on the proposed Garden State Parkway Interchanges 41 and 44 improvements project (“Project”) in Galloway Township, Atlantic County. At Interchange 41, the Authority proposes to construct new northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps, realign the existing access road, and construct improvements along Jimmie Leeds Road (CR 561)(including widening and traffic signalization). At Interchange 44, the Authority proposes to construct a new southbound parkway entrance ramp and a new northbound parkway exit ramp to create a full interchange, replace the Pomona Road (CR 575) overpass, and construct improvements along Pomona Road (including widening and traffic signalization).
The improvements will enhance traffic operations and safety, accommodate existing and future traffic demands, facilitate access to The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and re-direct and reduce traffic in and through the Atlantic City service area onto ramps. Construction is expected to commence in spring 2013 and take two years.
In accordance with the New Jersey No Net Loss Reforestation Act, N.J.S.A. 13:1L-14.2 et seq., the Authority will present information concerning the clearing of trees associated with the Project and the proposed reforestation effort.
The Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday December 4, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Stockton Performing Arts Center, Campus Center Theatre, Room CC-145, 101 Vera King Farris Drive, Pomona (Galloway Township), New Jersey. The purpose of the hearing is to inform the public about the Project and to solicit comments. Authority representatives and consultants will be available to discuss the Project informally between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The official public hearing will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a brief presentation by the Authority followed by public comments. Written comments may be submitted to the Authority prior to the hearing through February 4, 2013. All oral and written comments will be responded to in a written public hearing report.
