As the state continues to assess the damage from Tropical Storm Ida, remember, the USDA is here to help farmers and livestock producers recover by providing technical and financial assistance. Producers are encouraged to immediately contact their local FSA office to report storm damage to farm structures, crops and livestock. This information will assist the FSA in identifying the need for, and subsequently requesting, a Secretarial Disaster Declaration. A Secretarial Disaster Declaration would immediately trigger the availability of low-interest FSA Emergency Loans to eligible producers in all primary and contiguous counties. This information will also assist the local office in determining if Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) and/or Emergency Forest Restoration Program (EFRP) funding is necessary.
To assist producers in identifying programs that can aid in recovery, the USDA has published a brochure, Disaster Assistance Programs At A Glance. The brochure is a quick reference guide to available Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Risk Management Agency disaster assistance programs.
