Grants
The Grants Management Unit, within the Office of Policy and Planning, is charged with identifying funding opportunities, providing technical support to staff developing grant applications, grant writing, processing of grant applications, fiscal management of grant funds, monitoring of grant activities and grant reporting requirements. The Grants Management Unit also provides technical direction to the organizational units of the New Jersey Department of Corrections to assure compliance with this policy and applicable internal management procedures.
NJDOC applies for and currently manages over $51 million in the following types of Federal, State and private active grants:
The New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) thanks you for the opportunity to collaborate on providing services that are in alignment with its mission statement. We encourage organizations and agencies to take advantage of grant offerings as they become available.
Letter of Support requests to the NJDOC for Grant applications or Request For Proposals (RFPs) are submitted via e-mail with information provided on a PDF fillable form. All requests must be submitted at least 12 business days prior to the application/ proposal deadline. Letters of Support will be issued at the sole discretion of NJDOC. If the requestor is a current partner of the Department, The requestor must be in good standing with the NJDOC to be issued a Letter of Support. FY24 NJLEAD applications are under review. Please do not contact NJDOC regarding any part of the application process. An award list will be posted on the website once award determination has been approved.

Please review all of the application materials sent by your organization to the NJ Department of Corrections at GMUNJLEAD@doc.nj.gov for the FY24 NJLEAD Application submission - Categories A,B,C, & D. If any required application materials or components were NOT included in your submitted application, NJDOC is offering one opportunity to submit these missing documents at this time.
These missing documents MUST BE SUBMITTED TO GMUNJLEAD@DOC.NJ.GOV by Monday, March 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. Late submissions will not be considered. Please send ONLY MISSING documents.

In an unprecedented move to expand support of reentry services for individuals exiting the state’s correctional system, the New Jersey Department of Corrections is launching its second year of funding for the New Jersey Locally Empowered, Accountable and Determined (NJ LEAD) $7M grant. Category A. Reintegration Service Coordination in Urban Communities.
The NJDOC seeks proposals specifying how municipalities will use funds to support hiring a Municipal Reintegration Service Coordinator (MRSC) to ensure returning citizens’ successful reintegration into the community and to promote community engagement and family support.

Category B. Reentry Supportive Services in New Jersey.
The NJDOC seeks proposals specifying how nonprofit community-based organizations or associations will use funds to increase and improve successful reentry outcomes through wraparound case management services. Category B application must have a housing component.

The NJDOC seeks proposals specifying how municipal, county, or state entities, nonprofit community-based organizations, or associations will use funds to implement innovative entrepreneurial development that will increase and improve the ability of incarcerated persons within 364 days of release or the formerly incarcerated to achieve economic stability and independence

Category D. Innovative Supplemental Prerelease Reentry Preparation Services and Vocational Training And Certification
The NJDOC seeks proposals specifying how municipal or state government entities, for profit and nonprofit community-based organization or associations will use funds to implement innovative pre-release evidence-based psycho-educational rehabilitative, discharge planning services, and vocational training or work readiness programs that will increase and improve the ability of incarcerated persons within 364 days of release to achieve successful reintegration and independence.
