Office of Diversity Programs

Charlie Williams, Ph.D., Executive Director

Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Programs

The Office of Diversity Programs is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support and facilitate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for the State’s civil service workforce. In working with state agencies, departments and local jurisdictions, the Office of Diversity Programs actively engages its stakeholders to increase DEI so that every employee, and prospective employee feels valued and respected. The Office hosts numerous outreach events, training and professional development programs, and works on targeted initiatives focused on cultivating DEI for New Jersey’s civil service workforce.

Diversity and Inclusion Programs and Initiatives

The Office of Diversity Programs has developed several professional development-related diversity and inclusion programs, many of which are sponsored on a recurring basis.

In 2019 the CSC held its inaugural State Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Summit. An annual event, the Summit provides an opportunity for State agencies and departments to explore, and gain practical knowledge on best practices for attracting, hiring, and retaining diverse talent in New Jersey’s workforce.
