Text of Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children

The text of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children is the basis for legislation among the states who have chosen to enact it. All participating states agree to follow certain procedures and to respect the application laws of all party states.

Placement requests for children from non-compact states are processed in the same manner as placement of children involving compact states. As a non-compact state, New Jersey is expected to comply with the procedures and laws of compact states in the placement of children in those states.

The text explains basic procedures and requirements in the interstate placement of children.
