Establishment of Chromium Workgroup -
In
March 2004, scientists from the Division of Science, Research and Technology
(DSRT) were charged with reviewing the current human health-based soil
clean-up criteria for chromium. This was done in response to concerns
voiced by the Hudson County community where most of the chrome ore processing
residue waste sites are located. An internal DEP workgroup was formed
and chaired by Eileen Murphy, Ph.D. (DSRT). A report was prepared in 2005
with the findings of the workgroup (see link below). This chromium webpage
was created as a mechanism to keep community members and other stakeholders
informed on departmental chromium reports, projects and issues. It is
updated routinely by the Office of Science (formerly DSRT).
