Boat Captain - Sedge Island Natural Resource Education Center


Closing Date: When Filled

Location: Sedge Island Natural Resource Education Center, Seaside Park, Ocean County

Job Duration: April through October; position limited to 900 hours

Job Description: The position duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Transport paying group participants to and from Sedge Island
  • Ensure all boats are in safe operating condition
  • Assist in boat maintenance
  • Be able to captain a 24' pontoon boat, 22' pontoon boat and 24' Carolina Skiff
  • Master United States Coast Guard Operator's License (6-pack)
  • Knowledge and experience navigating Barnegat Bay (preferred)
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Enjoy working outdoors despite extremely sunny, hot, rainy and/or buggy conditions
  • Available to work a varied schedule including week days and weekends

Compensation: $16-$18/hr. (based on experience)
