Historic Preservation Awards Ceremony
The Department of Environmental Protection’s Historic Preservation Office, the New Jersey Historic Sites Council, and Preservation New Jersey recently celebrated projects that preserve the state’s rich and diverse heritage with the presentation of annual Historic Preservation Awards.
The 29th annual awards ceremony was held virtually on February 19th. Among the efforts honored are an adaptative reuse of an Art Deco office tower in Newark, a project preserving the nation’s first Black-owned country club, a statewide visitor readiness assessment of Revolutionary War sites in anticipation of the nation’s 250th birthday, a statewide guide to help protect historic resources from flooding, and a Bergen County leader in the preservation of Black history.
