The Division of Land Use Regulation

The Dam Safety Section

The Division of Land Use Regulation (LUR) coordinates with the Dam Safety Section in the Division of Engineering and Construction when impacts are proposed in freshwater wetlands, transition areas, and State open waters as necessary for the repair, rehabilitation, replacement, maintenance, reconstruction, or removal of a dam, as defined in the Department's Dam Safety Rules at N.J.A.C. 7:20-1.2.

The Bureau of Urban Growth and Redevelopment within LUR handles all freshwater wetland General Permit 18 (Dam repair) applications that are submitted.  All General Permit No. 18's require that the proposed activities shall be conducted in accordance with a permit issued pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:20 by the Department's Dam Safety Section.

Applications for a General Permit 18 should be submitted to LUR concurrent with or soon after a Dam Safety permit has been submitted.
