Project Wild Banner

As home to numerous species of insects, birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish and mammals, New Jersey provides educators with plentiful opportunities to understand wildlife ecology, management and protection strategies. Since 1984 the DEP's Division of Fish and wildlife has sponsored Project WILD, a nationally recognized environmental and conservation education program, based on the premise that students and teachers have a vital interest in learning about the ways in which wildlife and humans interact. Project WILD addresses the need for people to think, plan and act responsibly. It is coordinated nationally by the Council for Environmental Education.

  • Project WILD introduces such concepts as food chains, habitats and carrying capacities, using interactive and fun methods.

  • The WILD activity guide features a section on how to attract wildlife to school and community properties.

Target Audience(s)
