Pre-Licensure Renewal FAQ’s

The Pre-Licensure Schools and Instructors online license renewal will begin mid-January 2023.  All current pre-license Schools and Instructors will receive notification via email regarding the procedures to renew their licenses.

  1. Is there a grace period?
  2. There is no grace period at this time.

  3. Once I renew my license, how do I get a copy of my license?
  4. Pre-licensure instructor and school licenses will no longer be printed and mailed to licensees by the Real Estate Commission. There will be an item on your Online Services Menu that will produce your license(s) in a PDF format and allow you to save or email the license.

Continuing Education Certificate Re-Application FAQ’s

The Continuing Education (CE) Re-Application process for Providers and Instructors will begin in May 2024.  All current CE Providers and Instructors will receive notification via email regarding the procedures to re-apply for approvals.  **Please note:  Those Providers and Instructors whose approvals are tied to the Pre-License status have expiration dates based on that pre-license status which is February 28, 2023. 

  1. When does my CE Approval to teach expire?
  2. CE Instructor Approvals expire on June 30, 2024 and every four years after that.
    **Except Pre-Licensed Instructors:  Pre-Licensed Instructors are deemed automatically approved to teach CE Core topics.  That approval is directly correlated to their specific license which expires on February 28, 2023 and every odd year thereafter.  Please see chart.

  3. If I am a pre-licensed instructor that is automatically deemed approved to teach CE Core topics and I also submitted an application and was approved to teach topics in the Elective area also, what must I do?
  4. In this case, you will have two expiration dates.  Your ability to teach Core topics will expire with your pre-license instructor status and your ability to teach Elective topics will expire on June 30, 2024.  You will need to re-apply and pay the re-application fee prior to June 30, 2024 to receive re-approval to teach the Elective topic areas.  Once you renew your pre-license status in February 2023, your approval to teach CE Core topic areas is automatically re-approved. Please see chart.

  5. When does my CE Provider Approval expire?
  6. CE Provider Approvals expire on June 30, 2024 and every four years after that.
    **Except Pre-Licensed Providers:  Pre-Licensed Providers are deemed automatically approved to teach CE Core topics.  That approval is directly correlated to their specific license which expires on February 28, 2023 and every odd year thereafter.  Please see chart. 

  7. When does my CE Course Approval expire?
  8. CE Course Approvals expire five years from the original date of approval on December 30 of that fifth year.  Example: Courses approved anytime in 2022 will expire on December 30, 2027.  Please see chart.

  9. What must I do to re-apply for the approval?
  10. You will receive notice from the Real Estate Commission in May via email and regular mail regarding procedures to re-apply and renew online.

  11. What are the fees for re-applying for the approvals?
  12. CE Provider re-approval fee: $300
    CE Instructor re-approval fee: $150

  13. How long does the renewed approval last?
  14. Please refer to the attached chart.

  15. Will I be able to upload CE credits if my approval expires?
  16. If your approval code expires, the system will NOT allow CE credits to upload to the system with an expired code.

  17. Is there a grace period?
  18. There is no grace period at this time.

  19. Will I re-apply through PSI or the REC?
  20. The re-application process will be done through the REC.  Applications and payments will be submitted electronically.

  21. I have a Provider and Instructor approval code.  Can I renew several items at a time?
  22. If you have approvals in multiple areas, you will only be able to re-apply for one application at a time.  Once you complete one you may then move on to complete the next application.
