Deputy Assistant Commissioner - Academics
Dr. David Greer currently serves in the New Jersey Department of Education as Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Academics. In his role, Dr. Greer oversees the offices of Standards, Career Readiness, Professional Learning, Innovation, and STEM. He previously worked as the former coordinator of World Languages and Director of the Office of Standards.
Prior to his tenure at the NJDOE, Dr. Greer worked for Westfield Public Schools, as Supervisor of World Languages and English Language Learners for grades K-12. While there, he also taught French, Spanish, and English Learners.
Dr. Greer earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and Secondary Education from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, followed by a Master of Arts in Instruction and Curriculum with Supervisory Certification from Kean University in Union, NJ. Dr. Greer was awarded an Ed.D. in Language Education from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. His dissertation focused on world language teacher preparation and special education.
Since January 2010, Dr. Greer has been a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University working with pre-service teachers of World Languages and English-Language Learners.
