N.J. Pilot Examples for 8th Grade Assessment
The New Jersey Technology Assessment of Proficiency (NJTAP) project was developed by a consortium of school districts and overseen by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) for the purpose of assisting schools in meeting the No Child Left Behind – Title II, D requirement that all students are technologically literate by the end of grade eight. NJTAP is a combination of strategies, tools and resources used to assist teachers in assessing technological literacy in the classroom. The project does not specify details regarding the administration of assessments. Please note that the LEA must commit to aligning their current curriculum to New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standard 8.1. The district must assess and report the results to comply with N.J.A.C. 6A:8-3.1(a)3.
During the 2006-2007 school year, the NJDOE worked with a number of school districts to implement the NJTAP recommendations and provide feedback and examples of projects that would meet the Title II, D mandate.

The links below provide examples for developing district curricula that integrate technological literacy skills. They also illustrate how districts can effectively design their own assessment projects and how assessments can be modified to meet the needs of all students
Please note that the NJDOE does not approve district curriculum and that the examples below serve only to illustrate the process and not to specify content. Further, note that samples of assessments administered by districts must be archived to meet NCLB requirements.
