MEDIA ADVISORY NJ’s Aging & Disability Resource Connection Goes Statewide Enhanced Delivery System for Long Term Services and Supports in 21 Counties

TRENTON - State and county aging and disability services leaders will gather in Hamilton tomorrow morning to mark the statewide establishment of an enhanced service delivery system known as the Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC).

The milestone will be recognized at a special event from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the RWJ Hamilton Health and Wellness Center, 3100 Quakerbridge Road, Mercerville 08619.  Invited speakers include Human Services Commissioner Jennifer Velez and Deputy Commissioner Lowell Arye, and Health and Senior Services Assistant Commissioners Kathleen Mason and Nancy Day.

Services available at local ADRC include outreach and educational activities to ensure individuals know about the array of long term services and supports available to delay or eliminate the need for institutional care.  Through systems changes incorporated in the ADRC, consumers now have improved access to community programs such as meals-on-wheels, personal care, housekeeping, specialized transportation, assisted living and nursing home care.

The ADRC is a joint initiative between the New Jersey Departments of Health and Senior Services and Human Services, with the 21 Area Agencies on Aging serving as the county lead agencies in partnership with other state and local governmental and nonprofit agencies in the aging and disability services networks.
